If you have ever had to hire a lawyer, you may have wondered what goes on behind the scenes. Or if the tv shows featuring lawyers were even close to being true.
They're not.
In my first days at the law office, I discovered law offices are one of the biggest consumers of paper. They thrive on paper. If a client takes a breath, it is documented and filed in their client file. Unless you have been there, you would never believe the amount of paper that is processed in a single day. Every email, every phone call, and of course all court documents are all printed and filed in the client's file.
Storage, as you might image, is a constant battle. It must be secure, dry (but not too dry), accessible (bring a ladder), and HUGE! A map would not be out of the question. And maybe a rope to guide you back out the labyrith of storage.
With all this paper comes a common injury among office workers. The paper cut. This is made even more painful by the bottles of anti-bacterial gel scattered around the office. Forget you have a paper cut, slather on the anti-bac gel, and OOOOOWWWWWW!!!
Now I know I've made it seem full of glamour, but a lot of work goes into the printing, and filing, and storing. Sometimes, someone even goes to court!
